Ibadan Poly Graduate Jailed 3 Years For Certificate Forgery

An Ibadan Magistrate has handed down a three-years jail term to a former student of the Polytechnic Ibadan for forging a Higher National Diploma certificate.
The convict, Akinwale Babatunde Kabir, was an employee of Mufutahu Olanihun College of Education, Ibadan, until his arrest, Leadership reports.
Kabir had initially pled not guilty but was found guilty of a two count charge of conspiracy and forgery contrary to sections 516 and 467 of the Criminal Code Cap 38, volume 11, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Kabir had worked at the college with a HND Marketing certificate, claiming to have graduated with a lower credit.
But the college discovered that he had a "pass" certificate during a 'routine' verification exercise and reported to the police who had him arrested.
Police investigations at his alma mater revealed that Kabir actually graduated from IbadanPoly but records showed he graduated with 2.16 grad, which a pass, contrary to the certificate he presented to his employers.
